Heavy-Duty CNC Copper Busbar Processing Machine MOTI-80-3NC Shipped to Canada

Author:Forrest Wang, David WangDate:2026-08-25Type:MOTI News

The MOTI-80-3NC heavy-duty CNC busbar processing machine shipped to Canada today is a specialized model.

Designed specifically for copper and aluminum busbars exceeding 250mm in width and 16mm in thickness, this unit integrates punching, shearing, and bending functions

into a single machine; due to this "three-in-one" design and its extra-large frame, it is designated as a heavy-duty CNC busbar processing machine.

1. Newly Designed Appearance

As you can see from the photos and videos we’ve shared, the appearance of this MOTI-80-3NC busbar processing machine differs from previous models;

the most significant change is the addition of protective guards to the punching, shearing, and bending units.

A Canadian client requested this design after seeing images from another supplier; they valued the quality of our machines and asked us to replicate a specific custom model they had seen elsewhere.

(1) Reasons for Selection

The client likely requested this feature due to safety concerns or to comply with local regulations requiring such safety devices on purchased equipment.

(2) Practicality

In reality, adding these guards makes the machine less convenient for operators to use.

As the video demonstrates, the guards serve little more than a decorative purpose and offer minimal actual protection.

We encourage other customers to prioritize practicality and ease of use when selecting the right busbar processing machine for their needs.

2. Servo-Driven Automatic Positioning Function for the Punching Unit

A customer requested the addition of a servo-driven automatic positioning function to the machine when placing their order.

(1) Punching Turret

The punching unit on this MOTI-80-3NC busbar processing machine is significantly larger than those offered by other suppliers.

Manufacturers of other "Model 803" busbar machines typically design the punching turret to be the same size as that of the "Model 503," utilizing the same small-sized punching dies across the 303, 503, and 803 models.

(2) Busbar Punching Dies

MOTI Busbar Machines utilize different punching dies. While the Model 303 uses smaller dies, the Model 503 and Model 803 machines employ larger ones.

Since the Model 503 and 803 machines are primarily designed to process copper and aluminum busbars with thicknesses exceeding 16mm—and up to 20mm—larger dies are required.

This design reduces die wear, extends service life, and lowers operating costs for the customer.

(3) Servo-Driven Automatic Positioning Function

The following components are added to equip the punching unit with the servo-driven automatic positioning system:

#1. A dedicated 10-inch touchscreen

#2. Coordinate-based positioning

The CNC system employs coordinate-based positioning, using the X and Y axes to determine the precise location for punching the copper busbar.

The X-axis configuration includes a lead screw, a servo motor, and a servo controller.

The Y-axis configuration includes a lead screw, a servo motor, and a servo controller.

MOTI INDUSTRIAL independently designed the servo positioning system for this punching unit.

By inputting the desired punching coordinates, the system automatically generates a visual representation of the busbar on the screen.

This allows the customer to preview the finished busbar configuration before the actual punching process begins.

3. Heavy-Duty Shearing Unit for 20x300mm Busbars

The MOTI-80-3NC is equipped with a heavy-duty hydraulic shearing unit designed for processing extra-thick and extra-wide copper and aluminum busbars.

The shearing unit can process busbars up to 20mm thick and 300mm wide, making it suitable for demanding electrical switchgear, power distribution, transformers, and other high-current applications.

(1) High-Capacity Hydraulic Shearing System

The shearing unit is powered by an independent 7.5kW motor and hydraulic pump system, providing strong and stable cutting force for heavy-duty busbar processing.

The hydraulic system is designed to maintain sufficient force during cutting, helping the machine handle thick copper and aluminum busbars reliably.

(2) 270mm Diameter Shearing Cylinder

The MOTI-80-3NC uses a large 270mm diameter shearing cylinder to provide the high load-bearing capacity required for cutting thick busbars.

This heavy-duty configuration is particularly important when processing copper busbars up to 20mm thick, where stable cutting force is essential for consistent results.

(3) Double-Column Shearing Structure

The double-column structure provides a stable foundation for the shearing operation and helps maintain the position of the cutting components under high load.

For manufacturers processing large copper busbars, this structure contributes to stable and repeatable cutting performance.

(4) Clean and Efficient Busbar Cutting

The shearing design is optimized to minimize material waste and reduce deformation during cutting.

The result is a clean cutting edge with minimal burrs, helping reduce the need for additional finishing work before the busbar moves to the punching or bending process.

4. Heavy-Duty CNC Bending Unit for Large Copper Busbars

The bending unit is another key part of the MOTI-80-3NC heavy-duty CNC busbar processing machine.

Designed for thick and wide copper and aluminum busbars, the bending unit provides the high force required for demanding busbar fabrication while maintaining consistent bending accuracy.

(1) Up to 800kN Bending Force

The MOTI-80-3NC bending unit provides up to 800kN of bending force, matching the heavy-duty positioning of the machine.

It can process copper and aluminum busbars up to 20mm thick and 300mm wide for vertical bending applications.

(2) Independent Hydraulic Power

The bending unit is powered by its own 7.5kW motor and hydraulic pump system.

Together with the independent hydraulic systems of the punching and shearing units, this configuration allows the three processing stations to operate independently and, when required, simultaneously.

This is an important advantage for production efficiency because operators do not have to wait for one processing unit to finish before starting another.

MOTI's customer application information also highlights simultaneous operation of the three independent processing units.

(3) Multiple Busbar Bending Applications

The MOTI-80-3NC can be configured with different bending tools for various busbar fabrication requirements, including:

  • Vertical bending
  • Horizontal / edge bending
  • U-shaped bending
  • Embossing
  • Customized bending applications

Standard bending tooling is available, while customized molds can also be developed according to customer drawings or busbar samples.

(4) CNC Control and Bending Accuracy

The bending unit is integrated with the machine's CNC control system and 10-inch touchscreen interface, allowing operators to set and manage processing parameters more conveniently.

The published technical data specifies ±1° bending precision and ±0.3° repeat bending precision for the MOTI-80-3NC.

Actual accuracy can vary depending on material properties, thickness, tooling, and operating conditions.

For production environments where the same busbar configuration needs to be repeated, CNC control helps improve consistency and reduce manual setup time.

5. One Heavy-Duty Machine, Three Busbar Processing Functions

The biggest advantage of the MOTI-80-3NC is that punching, shearing, and bending are integrated into one heavy-duty CNC busbar processing machine.

Instead of transferring thick copper busbars between separate machines, operators can complete multiple fabrication processes within the same work area.

With three independent hydraulic power systems, the three processing units can work independently and, when required, simultaneously.

This 3-in-1 configuration helps manufacturers:

  • Reduce material handling
  • Save production time
  • Improve workflow efficiency
  • Reduce equipment footprint
  • Maintain consistent processing quality
  • Improve overall busbar fabrication productivity

For manufacturers working with large and heavy copper or aluminum busbars, the MOTI-80-3NC provides a practical combination of processing capacity, hydraulic power, CNC control, and production flexibility.

6. Conclusion: Heavy-Duty Busbar Processing Without Compromise

The MOTI-80-3NC is more than a larger version of a standard busbar processing machine.

It is designed for manufacturers who need to process thick and wide copper and aluminum busbars with greater stability, flexibility, and production efficiency.

With its 20x300mm processing capacity, heavy-duty punching unit, hydraulic shearing system, CNC bending unit, and servo-driven automatic punching positioning,
